It’s not too late for us to wish you a Happy New Year is it? No? Good. Happy New Year…

Out in the streets, people are doing more than shopping for new clothes and furniture. History has shown that democracy in action isn’t always pretty. Many are now realising that their democratic rights can’t be fought from the comfort of the living room sofa.

If there were a soundtrack to ‘conscientious uprising’, Africa Hitech’sOut In The Streets’ would be it. At twenty%extra™ we created our own version of the video in response to the poignant chorus, which could literally be a soundtrack of our times.

Dudley Perkins | Flowers by Sam Craven

Stones Throw are marketing geniuses. The Stones Throw Video Contest which launched back in April and ends today is proof of that.

Such is the nature of genius that it attracts, well, genius. Enter Samuel Craven with a final day entry that’s already got the attention of Mr Perkins himself.

Sam’s video for Flowers provides all the essential ingredients for a summer video: it’s beautiful, calming and uplifting and works in perfect harmony with the track. Sure I’m biased but it deserves your vote, or at least a play or two.

PhoneShop | Starts tonight on E4

Phil Bowker’s already cult comedy PhoneShop begins tonight on E4. For the eager beavers, the show has been available to watch for a couple of weeks on 4oD, with a sign-up process the only caveat.

When it comes to understanding the demographic make-up of such cutting edge programming, data capture like this is essential when trying to learn more about those learned early adopters.

Not to say I fall into that category, but I’ve already caught my initial slice of the pie. The verdict: a bright PhoneShop future starts today.

Simply put, this is one of the strongest, most poignant music videos you’ll ever watch. In fact to call it just a music video does it a disservice, but if you want something to do with 9mins 40seconds of your time, you could do no better than watching this.

Carpe diem.
