Just a quickie to wish our mates at Orange Rockcorps a fantastically fabulous gig this Friday at the Royal Albert Hall. The tag line says ‘Give, Get Given’, and thousands, yes thousands of youngsters, gave their time to volunteer in their local communities. As a reward, they’ll all get the chance to see some of their fav artists for free. Result! And who said teenagers were good for nothing…

Voicebot | National Youth Volunteers Service

Finding out what young people ‘think’ is the top of any Marketing Directors agenda these days, especially in the midst of the social media frenzy of tweets, facebooks and blogging.

So it’s refreshing to see third sector organisations using the tools of the web 2.0 world to try and actually help young people share their ideas. Voicebox is part of the National Youth Volunteers Service campaign to get young people between the ages of 16-25 to express what they think about an array of issues that affect them, through the use of a live robot.

The robot will ironically, physically write out their contributions and will be based in the Houses of Parliament for MPs to hear straight from the horses mouth. Well, kinda. NYVS aim to increase the number of 16-25 year olds in volunteering and hope that in return, the data gathered will help them improve their service. We think they deserve a thumbs up for some innovative thinking.
