Earlier this month we jumped on board the Virgin Media Pioneers – Spark Your Ideas tour.
We were delighted to be invited to take part and run the branding sessions for the VMP young entrepreneurs. The tour also includes business case studies from Virgin Media as well as inspirational talks from seasoned entrepreneurs such as Lara Morgan: founder of Pacific Direct and Start-Up Britain.
The tour started in London and will visit Manchester, Birmingham, Sheffield and Edinburgh. The only question now is whether we will be travelling on Virgin Trains…

We’ve been working closely with The Insomniax to develop the brand and overall marketing strategy that will help introduce the world to The INX movement.

Yesterday I popped down to the Responsible Business Convention at the Business Design Centre,Islington. I was there to help spread the good word about Social Enterprise to the conference’s corporate delegates.

This is what we found Middlesbrough council were doing on a recent trip there for our Green Stories workshops.

Affinity Sutton has taken an innovative and creative approach to engage their residents into green issues.
Last year we started working them to create a marketing campaign to encourage the early adopter green residents to share their Green Stories by making 6 short films, which in return will inspire other residents to recycle and make positive eco choices.

Our Ansel is getting to be a dab hand [or is it mouth] at this public speaking malarkey. UpRise were invited to part of the ‘Art Against Cuts’ panel at this years Progressive London. His esteemed panellists included Bonnie Greer, Turner Prize winner Mark Wallinger, Helen Gardener and Cllr Tulip Sidiq , who all said their bit about the recent cuts to the sector.
Ansel’s talk focussed on the need to rethink the definition and value of creativity, its outcomes and how to go about successfully engaging the wider society so they in turn become vocal advocates for the arts. Bonnie Greer was also in agreement, pointing out that the arts need to be able to measure the ‘outcomes’ in this new economy.
Interestingly enough there were many parallels to our last The Wide Awake Club: Staying Relevant in Changing Times, where we spoke about models that can demonstrate their impact in a digestible fashion.
