Worms, bins and compost aren’t the usual topics we cover in a workshop, but hey, don’t say we aren’t full of surprises.
Ansel will be sharing his home grown knowledge and green fingered wizardry in ‘How to create a self contained wormery’ at the Trade School London, which will be hosted at one of our new fav local spots FARM:Shop.
Based around the idea of the social nature of exchange, Trade School is a global initiative that uses barter as a way to engage knowledge share. For example, “I’ll teach you how to mend your bicycle puncture for art supplies and a banana or better yet teach me a skill”.
Starting in April and running on Thursdays and Sundays throughout the month, you can learn anything from yoga for beginners, make usable websites or even check out the ‘divine/ridiculous’ an exploration of the collision point between the sublime and the silly’ workshop.
To sign up for any of the classes please go here and hit join.

The answers to the Eurozone’s ills, all contained within the ill verses of Euro Neuro by
Eurovision 2012 Montenegrin entry Rambo Amadeus. Yes, I said ‘ill’. Yes I said I’m voting.
Let’s get this straight – I’ve never voted for any song in the Eurovision Song Contest in all my years of existence. This year though, is the exception.
Rambo Amadeus has been a cult figure in the music scene of the Western Balkans for more than 20 years. For late-comers like myself, the cult-like admiration starts now. Sorry Engelbert, you’ve had your day. It’s Rambo time.
Whilst having a ‘wish I was there’ moment after reading a stream of tweets from various bods at the South by South West conference, I saw a useful tweet about a blog based on the conferences’ various seminars.
Ok it’s not quite the same as being there, but the Ogilvy’s Notes blog employs RSA style infographics on the events key lectures. The infographics are produced by Imagethink, a graphic facilitation company who bring some vava voom to lectures and meetings by visually recording the content. Great idea for all visual learners and let’s face it probably would perk up any boardroom meeting.
Drum roll please… introducing product designer and London Metropolitan University graduate, Yinka. You may not of heard of him as yet, but pull out your pencil and take note.
Working with old and unloved furniture, Yinka recycles and reworks each piece to produce a brand new creation. We’re pleased to say that twenty%extra will be working with Yinka to help build his brand.
We popped down to the British Library’s Spring Festival this week where Yinka won a competition for one of the fair’s limited stands. Yinka’s pieces caught the eye of the spring fair goers and his mailing list happily grew too. The future looks as bright as an orange lacquer finish.
It’s been no secret that the music industry has been put through it’s paces over recent years, with the internet forcing the industry re-evalute it’s business model and marketing strategies.
One thing that small independent labels have as an advantage over the large corporations is the ‘niche’. Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, independents use selective tastes and underground relevance to be perceptive as well as receptive to changes in audiences tastes. One such movement that looks like it could be on to something is the Independent Label Market.
Last May saw the launch of the initiative on Berwick Street where independent label bosses from labels such as XL, Rough Trade and Mute set up stall and quite simply flogged their gear, which included back catalogues and limited editions and the odd pop star like Jarvis Cocker making an appearance.
In marketing speak, we would call this experiential; bringing the brand to the audience. On October 8th ILM go Stateside, setting up shop at Brooklyn Flea with MTV Hive and The Daily Swarm as partners. As a concept it creates a sense of exclusivity that indulges the senses of avid music fans while at the same time continuing a sense of community. Niche in this instance equals community building, which any brand worth their stock value are trying to invest in.
You may be familiar with Natty’s 2008 pop hits Bedroom Eyes, July and Badman, however you might not know of Natty the activist. Teaming up with friends and some like minded folk Vibes & Pressure was born – an event that mixes music, art and activism.
Tonight at Passing Clouds, Vibes & Pressure present Steppin Raiser – a chance to debate the recent UK Riots with young people, community leaders and musicians. As well as food for thought there will also some for the belly, plus live music.

It seems we are on the verge of some sort of change, a different way of doing things. Networks such as Good to Avaazare growing in momentum and support as we attempt to understand both our own personal impact on the world we live in and the type of legacy we wish to leave behind.
The idea of ‘good’ is now becoming a relevant and necessary currency for both individuals and brands as indeed it makes good business sense. The rise of social enterprises has seen many organisations embracing the concept of ‘doing good ‘as part of their company’s DNA, which can be nothing but a good thing.
To help the world celebrate what good means A Very Good Company have organised – A Good Week: an opportunity to get involved with events, activities and seminars and do some good for yourself and others.
A Good Week kicks off today so check out the site for the list of events.
