Sterling’s Gold | Wit & Wisdom of an Ad Man

Posted: December 21st, 2010 | Author: | Filed under: Marketing | Tags: , | No Comments.

When Roger Sterling’s trophy wife opened that box in the penultimate episode of Mad Men season 4, she in turn opened a veritable Pandora’s Box of marketing opportunity, picking up where True Blood left off with their ‘V’ incarnation.

Comparing a rip-off concoction of blood oranges and E-numbers to Sterling’s Gold is probably a tad unfair, as what makes this ‘biography’ so interesting as a concept is its attempt to provide a genuine extension to an already brilliant programme narrative.

LG | The Young and the Connected

In advertising land there’s ‘a’ truth and ‘the’ truth. LG‘s The Young and The Connected idents interestingly fall into the latter, as they highlight the frivolities of our social network interactions almost to the point where they threaten to undermine both the user and the applications themselves.

Don’t get me wrong. These idents are good. Very good in fact. And neither LG or Joe Bloggs will be concerned by my frivolous observations, as they’ll be smirking every time they’re aired – just like I do.

Now check you’re Bookface. You’ve officially been poked.
